I've just completed my bachelor's degree at Yale, where I was a double major in Theatre Studies and French. I've been teaching and tutoring since middle school and absolutely love sharing my passion for learning--and especially for French and Shakespeare--with other students! For the past four years, I have spent summers working as a teaching artist in the San Francisco Shakespeare Festival's summer... programs where I teach, direct, and most importantly have fun with students from ages 7 to 13, introducing them to the rich world of Shakespeare's plays and poetry. I've also worked as a private tutor in both French and English. I consider myself a warm and approachable person and I think that translates to my work as a tutor and teacher, where I pride myself on connecting with my students and personalizing my approach to suit their unique needs and learning style.
As a now-fluent French speaker who started learning French at the relatively late age of 14, I consider myself an expert in guiding native English speakers through the often-challenging but always-rewarding terrain of learning French as a second language. As a French learner myself, I remember the aspects of French grammar and syntax that can be trickiest for native English speakers and my toolbelt... is full of tips and tricks for overcoming those hurdles!
And, as a lifelong lover of Shakespeare, I also consider myself an expert in the Bard's often-tricky language. I've been teaching with the San Francisco Shakespeare Festival for four years now (and before that I worked in the Festival's summer camp programs as an Education Intern). But I also have an intimate knowledge of Shakespeare as an actor and director. Nothing brings me more joy than sharing my love of the Bard with students just getting familiar with his work!
