About Joseph

Hi! I'm a certified History/Geography/Civics/Economics etc. teacher that is absolutely obsessed with all these subjects. Most of my free time is spent in libraries poring over history books and/or learning and refining teaching techniques. I was an in-person tutor with my local Upward Bound program for Humanities and English for six years! My students know me for not letting them fail, and doing the best I can to find ways that students can come to a solid understanding of difficult concepts. In short, I'm some nerd that studies way too much for my own good, but is also very good at explaining the things I study to my students. If you need help with anything History/Geography/Civics/High School Economics/English/Literature/Writing related, I've been tutoring those subjects for years and have built up methods through both study and experience that work for the student, rather than myself, and I hope to hear from you!

Specialities

I specialize in a concept called "Differentiation", which in simple terms, means that I focus on finding different ways of presenting material and helping students build skills in a deliberate effort to find which approach works best for each individual student. While I would consider any Social Studies or English related topic to be my specialty, my real specialty is this process of differentiation, which has brought success to many of my students.
