About Denise
Hi there. My name is Denise and I am a qualified teacher. I have been teaching for 12 years and have taught across all ages from 5 to 12. I teach all subjects across the Curriculum but have a particular interest in teaching reading and basic Maths.
Most of my experience to date has been teaching students the basics skills of reading, writing and math. I have a keen interest in structured literacy whereby children are taught the basic 'code' of reading in a systematic and explicit way. Research has shown that this method suits all children but is particularly suitable for those with a learning difference e.g dyslexia.
I am looking for a better work/life balance and therefore am very excited about the prospect of teaching online so please message me and we can chat about how my skills and experience may be suitable for your child.

My speciality is teaching children who find learning difficult, whether this is because of a learning difficulty, a learning difference such as dyslexia or dyscalculia or whether they have just missed out on some of those essential blocks of learning earlier in their learning journey. For the past few years, I have been supporting teachers to help these children in their classrooms, designing individual programmes, conducting assessments etc.
