I know academic writing and the power of tutoring. Tutoring works because one-on-one instruction addresses one individual's learning at a time, leaving out the boring stuff and simplifying the hard stuff.
As a kid, I was too clumsy to play dodgeball and too tone-deaf to play the saxophone, but schoolwork was never a problem. I did so well with academics that I was asked to become a student-tutor while I was in third grade. The desire to excel at helping students succeed has been with me ever since.
Today, I hold a master's degree and a graduate certificate. I completed 45 graduate credits in English and writing. I also held a position as a graduate teaching assistant in the writing department. My undergraduate degree was completed in cultural studies with a concentration in communications.
