About Rayssa
Hello! My name is Rayssa, I'm a Biology and Sciences Teacher, but I also teach english as a second language for Middle Schoolers. I have studied at UFRJ (Federal University of Rio de Janeiro) in Brazil and at the University of Bristol (UK). Now I have been teaching Sciences / ESL in Brazil, in a bilingual school in Rio de Janeiro, using PBL - Project based learning model. Basically my way of teaching involves real world issues, where students learn how to use scientific knowledge to understand our decisions as a society and solve problems. Students are invited to get a close look into the scientific aspects of our day-by-day lives, in dialogue with social, tecnological and environmental issues.

Apart from sciences (Biology, chemistry and physics) to Middle School and Biology to High School, I also have a lot of experience with research projects in Science Education using STSE (Sciences-Technology-Society-Environment) methodology, laboratory research (genetics, ecology, bioacustics) and elaborating field experience for students. Sustainable agriculture, Permacultre and social-environmental issues were other studied themes in the UK and Brazil.
