About Najma

I am a new and enthusiastic teacher, I look forward to my work and I always look for opportunities to learn more about what I do. I love reading novels and articles, especially when I find them relevant to my life and my career.
I have a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Toronto where I focused on English, Religion and Philosophy - the subjects that interest me the most! I recently completed my Bachelor of Education at Queen's University and I am eager to explore my teaching career in as many ways as possible.
I love to travel and learn more about the world around me. By travelling, I get to learn more about my students and my community. I love to explore ethnic foods, literature, music and fashion.
I am a very outgoing individual, always eager to learn about and meet new people. I am friendly, approachable, and patient. I love to help and I always look for different ways of reaching the needs of my students.

Specialities

I am very experienced in tutoring all age levels in English reading and writing. I have always been strong in this area. I also volunteered as an ESL teacher, teaching various adult ESL classes for three weeks. I specialize in reading and writing for all age groups (story writing, creative writing, essay writing, etc.).
I am creative, I like to encourage creativity in all subject areas because I think it helps students to think critically and to learn in a meaningful way.
I am experienced in differentiating my teaching methods. I always work with students in ways that they prefer so that their learning makes sense to them.
I was priveleged to learn inquiry based instruction methods, this is also a great way of helping students to learn at their own pace and in a way that makes sense for them.
Other areas that I specialize in are: social studies, art, drama, history, religion, philosophy.
