About Mary Rose
I am a New York State Certified Teacher with a Dual B.A. in Math and Education and a M.S. in Reading. I taught in public schools for almost 12 years at the lower primary and middle grades specializing in math, gifted math, SAT & ACT instruction. Throughout my tenure I participated in numerous District Committes where I used my expertise to work on a team to realign math objectives to meet and exceed the state standards for math, gifted math and English. I was selected to develop workshops that taught teachers the best ways to use manipulatives to introduce math concepts.
During my long maternity leave from the public school classroom, I tutored privately, taught as an adjunct math and reading instructor, and wrote children's books and teacher articles for use in the primary classroom. I am a wonderful tutor because my students tell me so.They indicate that I make learning fun and show them how to connect all the dots in math.

I use mnemonic devices(acronyms, rhymes, imagery, etc.) regularly to give my students an opportunity to memorize important formulas and concepts while having fun. I make my studnets smile a lot!
