I have been teaching for 3 years and love every minute of it. My beliefs about teaching have affected my personal teaching style in many different ways. I don’t want my students to know names and know dates about history. I want them to understand and apply how history affects our everyday lives. History shapes our country. It has created the environment that we live and history is constantly changing. We always have to adapt but we also know that history has a habit of repeating itself. It’s my responsibility to have students see how they ultimately have control of the future. They can control what happens next in this country. Knowing how to make my material relatable to students is what I strive to do. Explaining to students how culture has been created and how the people have a say in what is going on, it allows them to have an open mind towards learning and ultimately striving to be the best student and person they can be.
