I have ten years of teaching experience both within North America and abroad (South Korea and China).
I did not start my teaching career in the field of mathematics. Instead, I was initially a teacher of Physical Education. Through various teaching opportunities, I have slowly evolved into a full time, high school mathematics and science teacher. The benefit of this is that I not only had to master the mathematics, but I had learn how to teach the classes effectively. I essentially became a learner of math and therefore, I know the struggles students face and why math can be challenging for them.
Therefore, as a teacher, my goal is for students to learn the processes behind mathematics so they are able to see the patterns within various computations. In my experience, this has allowed students to become less afraid of mathematics while also giving them a platform to become independent learners.
