About Geraldine

I have worked in the field of child psychology and education for the past 23 years. Throughout my career as a learning specialist, psychologist, and English editor  for PhD candidates, I have been exposed to many cultures and languages, working with children, teens and university students from the USA, Europe, the Middle East & Africa. I enjoy teaching students of all ages, from ESL  to native speakers.

For university students, my goal is to help non native English speakers  improve their writing, clarify and organize their ideas, and assist them in guided reading of English texts and articles required for their research.

My focus with children and teens is to develop effective learning strategies and autonomous study skills. Children have different learning styles.  Above all, I seek to instill an accepting environment, where asking questions and learning from mistakes is encouraged.

Specialities

One of my passions is children's literature and helping students to find their voice and develop their own unique narrative style. I love the fresh look young writers have when describing the world and people that surround them.

I am specialized in learning issues related to bilingualism, as well as the special needs of students who have learning disabilities or are exceptionally gifted, as well as learning issues faced by expatriate and immigrant families.

I am convinced that the pillars of any successful teacher-student team, regardless of the subject being studied, are: enthusiasm, regularity, creativity, a sense of humor, patience and honesty. These are the magic ingredients that help students go from good to great.
