I've been working in education for over 7 years, making science fun for kids and their families in a museum setting. In the past year, I've started substitute teaching and assisting students with remote learning. My favorite moments are when I can get a student to step back from the stress of an unsolved problem and work through the fundamentals with me; helping someone realize they have the smarts and the tools to work through something tough is what makes teaching exciting. My favorite topics to work with are Math, English, and Art, but we can get to the bottom of any assignment when we work together!
My own education was in the humanities. My coursework included social theory, statistics, cultural anthropology, American studies, and more. I had the honor of assisting Dr. Vanessa Fong with her study of education in Dalian, China and comparable samples. I bring all the curiosity about people and flexible thinking that made me a successful student to my teaching.
