Secondary Math Teacher
My approach depends on the needs of the student and the content. Wherever possible, I try to have students explain why a particular mathematical relationship 'makes sense' and to use multiple representations to represent a concept/situation - visual (sketch/graph), numeric, algebraic, and verbal. Some students prefer procedural approaches to routine exercises. Other students prefer to talk through more complex problems. Let me know what works for you, and that's what we'll do!
